Marbella is full of VIPs, but what if youโre you a VAP or a โvery adventurous personโ? Does Marbella offer enough to keep you entertained?
First letโs explore the concept of the VAP. If you loathe the word โrelaxationโ, you canโt sit still even to sip a fresh smoothie or a glass of wine with a lovely sea view and you generally move at 100 miles an hour then chances are, youโre one of them. And, if youโre even a little bit put off by luxury villas in the best areas of Marbella with those calming views, infinity pools and jacuzzis, then we think you need to face facts.
Maybe youโre highly strung, a sensationalist or a thrill-seeker. But you donโt need labels, you just need to know what to do in Marbella to get your adrenalin fix!
Weโve put together the Swish guide to Marbella for VAP thrill-seekers just like you.
Adventurous Things to do at the Beach in Marbella
Marbella is home to some beautiful stretches of sand. If you are looking for something exhilarating to do on one of Marbellaโs many beaches, thereโs plenty of water sports like paddle-boarding and windsurfing on offer. One of the most entertaining ways to spend an hour on the water is flite boarding. These futuristic hydrofoil fliteboards, invented in Byron Bay in Australia let you practically fly above the water. Only the most daring should try it. Our tip? Head to the beach near Puente Romano and hire one in the morning before they sell out!
Marbella for Those who Love Heights
If you’re after something bigger, better, higher and faster then there’s also plenty to keep you entertained in town. How about zip-lining through the trees at Selwo Aventura Park or riding ATVs (all terrain vehicles) through the nearby mountains? You can even climb La Concha if high altitudes are your thing. Youโll certainly find the full, 14km hike raises your pulse rate and there are some stunning views from the top too. (That is, if you stop to embrace them.) At Swish we can help you organise your hike and even put you in touch with guides and tour companies.
Canyoning in Marbella- Could this be a Thrill Seekerโs Dream Come True?
Marbella is well known for its coastline, but did you know that it’s also a great place for canyoning?
Canyoning, not to be confused with canoeing, is an adventure sport that involves descending into a canyon or gorge using a variety of techniques including rappelling, jumping, swimming, and sliding. Note to the wise: It’s extremely different from lying on a sun lounger reading a book. Donโt sign up for this unless you really are a dare devil.
If you’re interested in giving canyoning a try, there are a few things you should know. First, it’s important to choose a reputable company to go with. There are many companies offering canyoning tours around Marbella, so do your research to make sure you pick one with experienced guides and good safety equipment. You can even speak to the Swish team to help you organise your trip.
Horse Riding in Marbella
If you love horse riding, then Marbella could be right up your street. Here, you can go horse-riding on the beach and there are several riding schools in the area offering treks. Thrill seekers beware: Generally speaking you will be matched to your level of skill, so think more of a gentle trot than a wild, bear back canter.
More Ways to Indulge Your Sense of Adventure in Marbella
Mentioned here are but a few ways to get an endorphin rush. Donโt forget, Marbella also offers tremendous nightlife for those who like to party, thereโs jeep safaris and even paragliding too. And for those of you who perhaps arenโt so adventurous, come with us for a round of mini golf.
