1. The Best Golf Course for Beginners in Marbella: El Paraiso Golf Club
If you are just starting out or playing off a higher handicap and want a more forgiving course, El Paraíso is the one for you. Designed by Gary Player and opened in 1973, this classic parkland course is as welcoming as they come. It is consistently rated one of the friendliest clubs on the coast, with wide fairways, gentle gradients and a relaxed atmosphere that make it the ideal place to find your feet without feeling intimidated. The Marbella Club Golf Course continues to steal the show when it comes to sheer visual drama. Nestled in the hills above the Golden Mile, the course features waterfalls, lakes and landscaped terrain that are as photogenic as they are challenging. Managed by the legendary Marbella Club hotel, the service and facilities here match the beauty of the surroundings. Expect the same impeccable standards on the course as you would find in the hotel’s famous suites. It is a setting that makes even a bad round feel worthwhile.

3. The Most Challenging Golf Course in Marbella: The Marbella Golf and Country Club
For those who like their golf to test every club in the bag, Marbella Golf and Country Club delivers. The first nine holes play across elevated hillside terrain, demanding both power and precision from even the most experienced players. Strategic bunkers, water hazards and undulating greens keep you thinking from tee to flag. It is not a layout that forgives lapses in concentration, which is precisely what makes it so rewarding when you get it right.

4. The Best Golf Course Outside of Marbella: Finca Cortesin
If there is one course near Marbella that every serious golfer needs on their list, it is Finca Cortesín. Located between Sotogrande and Casares, just a short drive from Marbella, this is one of the finest golf venues in Europe.
The course was designed by Cabell B. Robinson to flow perfectly across the estate’s stunning landscape, offering a challenge for professionals while remaining a pleasure for amateurs, with wide fairways, strategic bunkering and immaculate greens making each hole an experience of its own.

5. The Best Golf Course with over 18 holes: La Quinta
La Quinta offers something genuinely different. The course has 27 holes across three nine-hole loops, designed by three-time world champion and Ryder Cup winner Manuel Piñero, just five minutes from Puerto Banús. The clubhouse at Santa María Golf and Country Club is worth a visit in its own right. A beautifully preserved two-storey Spanish country house surrounded by mature gardens and terraces, it has the kind of atmosphere that makes you want to linger long after the 18th hole. The course itself, just 200 metres from the beach, is a well-maintained and enjoyable layout that suits a wide range of handicaps. The location between Elviria and Marbella makes it easy to combine a round with a beach afternoon.

7. The Best for “Golf Widows” in Marbella: Aloha Golf Club
A firm favourite with Swish guests, Aloha Golf Club earns its place not just for its well-regarded course in the heart of Nueva Andalucía’s Golf Valley, but for what it offers anyone not picking up a club. The gym runs a varied programme of classes from Pilates to strength training, and the clubhouse restaurant is a genuinely stylish spot for lunch or dinner. Its proximity to the boutiques, restaurants and beach clubs of Puerto Banús means there is plenty to keep everyone busy.

8. Best Golf Club All Rounder: The Real Club Las Brisas Marbella
For the complete package, Las Brisas is hard to beat. Situated in the heart of Marbella’s Golf Valley, this prestigious club was designed by Robert Trent Jones Sr and combines an outstanding course with spectacular landscaping, abundant flora and fauna and charming views towards the Sierra Blanca mountains and the sea. The restaurant and club facilities are a step above, and the layout rewards both power and precision in equal measure.
