Starlite Marbella 2022

We are already excited about summer 2022. Beach clubs, sunshine and the much-loved Starlite music festival.

What is Starlite Marbella?

This is no ordinary music festival or god forbid, a dirty affair in a muddy field. Come to Starlite for gastronomic delights, VIP areas and cocktails, glam after parties and, our favourite bit, shopping between acts. Starlite puts the Marbella into the concert!

Let’s not forget to mention the auditorium itself, a flood-lit quarry in Nagüeles above Marbella, offering tremendous acoustics and a dramatic backdrop for the international best-selling artists who play there each year.

Talking of artists, the likes of Elton John, Lenny Kravitz, Enrique Iglesias, Ricky Martin, Juanes, Jessi J and Lionel Richie have all played there. (Read down for a little surprise!)

Starlite is an incredibly luxe venue hosting some of the best artists. This is a seriously fabulous experience, a must- do for summer 2022.

The history of Starlite

Starlite started life as a charity gala, in 2010. With such success and promise, promptly concerts were added to the timetable and it became the music festival it is today. The first festival in earnest took place in 2012 and the charity gala remains a crucial part of its programme each year, hosted by Antonio Banderas.

The location and venue chosen is simply “impresionante” as they say in Spanish. Set in a quarry, the dramatic amphitheatre provides a wonderful backdrop to the artists who play there. Starlite festival was not, however, the first to host concerts in the Nagüeles quarry. Prince Alfonso Hohenloe who is arguably the god father of Marbella’s “Jet Set” reputation and founder of The Marbella Club, collaborated with Julio Iglesias and tenor Plácido Domingo in 1983 for a musical event and recital in this unique venue. This was the pre-cursor to today’s festival which is noted as one of the most important in Europe. (Source: Wikipedia).

Headliners for Starlite 2022

We are pretty buzzed about this year’s line-up. Once again, we will get to indulge our love of all things Latino, as the legends Maluma and Cristina Aguilera will both be coming to Marbella. Likewise, we simply cannot wait for Andrea Bocelli whose spine-chilling voice will work perfectly with the acoustics of the auditorium.
