Food is one of our specialist subjects. We spend a lot of time pounding the streets and sampling the delicacies in the far corners of Marbella so you don’t have to. Here are our top picks from the un-discovered gems of the city.
1. Primeria Selection
Stunning wine bar and cellar with delectable cheese, Spanish ham, tapas and oysters.
If you love good quality food, wine and sherry this is the place for you. We can’t get enough of their Burrata salad with pistachio pesto and candied tomatoes.
Where to find it? In the center of Marbella, calle Notario Luis Oliver
2. Los Marinos Jose – Fuengirola
One of the best restaurants in Spain, and possibly the world (!) – and a favourite of Dani Garcia, this restaurant is on the foodie’s trail but only for those in the know. Sourcing the freshest ingredients from the sea, eating here is well worth the trip out of Marbella. Our suggestion? Coquinas a la plancha.
3. Hacienda Patagonica
Argentinian tapas at its best, don’t miss the empanadas de carne picante, the provoleta and the entraña!
4. Cabaña de Nagueles
A charming restaurant you might walk straight past without noticing but make sure you don’t! The “solomillo” sirloin steak here simply melts in the mouth, making this one of The Golden Mile’s best kept secrets.
5. The Grill – Marbella Club
Elegant as would be expected in The Marbella Club, The Grill offers a wonderful choice and some of the best meat and fish you will find in town. Charming/ old school chic setting, friendly professional staff, and delicious food. What else could you ask for?
6. Restaurante La Virginia
You will find this fabulous restaurant in a quiet, hidden area of Marbella. Don’t leave without trying the famous sardine pâté or the mouth-watering tiramisu.
Awarded the Michelin “Bib Gourmand” which celebrates good food at moderate prices. Here you won’t be disappointed. Try Kava to experience local produce fashioned into delightful and elegant dishes with the team’s global culinary excellence. The cheesecake is the best we’ve ever had!
8. Cappuccino Marbella
Stunning views, fantastic service, snacks and cake. The banoffee pie is a particular favourite of ours, we say ditch the diet and enjoy!
Feel the electric, feel-good vibes from the moment you walk into Wabisabi, the restaurant that brings a touch of Hawaii to Marbella. Make sure you try their poke bowls and magnificent cocktails.
10. Taberna Gaspar
A quirky taverna with the most excellent home-made tapas, all served with their famous “slow” mentality (wifi is not provided for a reason!) Try the famous tortilla, the meatballs or their giant croquetas! You won’t be disappointed (ps: cash only)
