We are lucky to have such a fabulous coastline in Marbella. With over 27km of stunning shores, a stroll by the beach here is a wonderful pastime at any point in the year. In fact, in the region of Malaga a walkway, known as the โSenda Litoralโ, is being built which aims to connect Malaga to Manilva and beyond, all in one coastal walking path. But what else is there to do at the beach in Marbella out of season?
Read on for our tips to make the most of this beautiful natural wonder.
-
Picnic on the Beach
This is probably our favourite pastime on the beach in Marbella: Precious family moments can be enjoyed and there is something special about packing up a feast then enjoying it next to the waves. If you want to, you can even hire a barbecue boat on the San Pedro beach and make your own grilled fish. The climate here lends itself well to picnics of all types.
-
Lunch in a Chiringuito
For those who want a lazy afternoon, try one of the many beach bars (known as chiringuitos) and have a long lazy lunch with friends. Many of them stay open throughout the winter. One of the best kept secrets on The Golden Mile is Victorโs Beach, where you will be able to have a fantastic lunch and listen to live music at weekends.
-
Spend Time with your Furry Friends
Dogs are not allowed on the main beaches during summer but luckily in winter they can roam freely! There is a dog beach in Marbella open all year so Fido can enjoy the sand with his canine friends too.ย In Puerto Banus, the dog beach is โLa Ventura del Marโ look for the sign for the โplaya caninaโ.
-
Swim (if you dare!)
Not only because you look great in a wetsuit and itโs now fashionable to bathe in ice water but more so because you love an adventure! Try a bracing dip out of season in the sea or you could even join in with those who swim every Christmas day without fail.
-
Work
Become a digital nomad and take your laptop with you to the beach bar, itโs so much easier in winter than the height of summer. Plus, anytime you need inspiration you can simply take a look at the beauty around you.
-
Read a Good Book
Reading will never go out of fashion and indulging your literary passion by the sea is perfect, as you can really absorb yourself in the story. Hereโs a few suggestions for what to read:ย 8 Books to Read on your Next Swish Holiday.
-
Take a Yoga Class
Marbella has plenty going on, from pilates and HIIT to yoga on the beach, especially in the cooler months when the weather lends itself perfectly to outdoor sun salutations.
-
Paint
Whether you are into sea-scapes or prefer sketching the people around you, the beach could be your new studio. Remember your sun cream if you are out for a long time though!
-
Call your Relatives
Funnily enough, face-time from the beach is a fun way to keep in touch with your loved ones. To avoid excessive noise from the waves or wind, find a sheltered spot.ย Just donโt flaunt your amazing beach lifestyle too much to those you are talking to in a cold country.
-
Clean up!
Beach clean-ups are a way to do your bit for the environment and make new friends. If you fancy helping out, look out for community noticeboards for opportunities to volunteer.
